Our Commitment

Cleaner, More Efficient, & More Sustainable

We take a practical, measurable approach to sustainability—integrating renewable energy, efficient facility design, and responsible operations into how we work every day. Our facility incorporates wind and solar power, rainwater systems, and a green roof to reduce our overall footprint.

From energy efficiency to the introduction of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), we are committed to supporting a more responsible future for aviation while continuing to deliver the high level of service our customers expect.

Preserving
Our Future

We continuously strive to provide exceptional service without compromising the future.

Solar Panels

Our rooftop photovoltaic array generates a system-rated output of nearly 24 kW AC, directly offsetting our electrical needs and reducing reliance on non-renewable energy sources. Additionally, our 100 kW solar-powered hot water system provides renewable, cost-effective hot water throughout the facility, helping to significantly lower overall energy consumption.

Green Roof

Our 12,196-square-foot green roof is one of the largest in New England and plays a vital role in our building’s energy efficiency. The mixed vegetation insulates the facility naturally, reducing heating and cooling demands year-round

It also captures and filters rainwater, which we reuse for aircraft washing and irrigation, lowering our water usage while reducing stormwater runoff and mitigating the urban heat island effect.

Wind Power

We are proud to host the first FAA-approved wind turbine ever installed at an airport. Our Northwind 100 turbine, rated at 100 kW, has been generating clean, renewable electricity since 2009. This turbine not only supports our facility’s power needs but also demonstrates how renewable energy can be safely integrated into aviation environments without compromising operations.

Sustainable Aviation Fuel

We are one of New England’s first distributors of Sustainable Aviation Fuel, which is derived from renewable feedstocks like used cooking oil and waste biomass. SAF can reduce lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% compared to conventional jet fuel, representing one of aviation’s most significant opportunities for emissions reduction.

OUR BUILDING TELLS A STORY OF RENEWAL AND SUSTAINABILITY

Originally a 1950s Army National Guard hangar, the structure was stripped to its steel and concrete frame and rebuilt into a modern, high-performance facility. Energy-efficient lighting, natural daylighting, and thoughtful material selection all contribute to a more efficient and sustainable-minded facility.

Rebuilt with Purpose

Originally a 1950s Army National Guard hangar, the structure was repurposed and rebuilt into a modern, efficient facility.

Responsible Sourcing

We prioritize vendors and materials that support efficient, responsible operations.

LED Lighting

Energy-efficient LED lighting across roadways, parking areas, and walkways reduces overall power consumption.

Locally Sourced Materials

The rebuild incorporated locally sourced materials to reduce environmental impact and support the surrounding community.

Natural Daylighting

Strategically placed skylights provide natural light throughout the facility, reducing energy use by approximately 200 kWh per day.
